SIERRA LEONE’S DEPUTY AMBASSADOR TO BELGIUM ARRIVES IN BRUSSELS TO COMMENCE TOUR OF DUTY

The Sierra Leone Deputy Ambassador to the Kingdom of Belgium, Mrs Asmaa James, has arrived in Brussels to commence her tour of duty after taking leave of  His Excellency President Dr. Julius Maada Bio on Tuesday 5th November.

Mrs. James has transitioned from her previous career as one of the best female journalists with over 22 years of experience and current Chief Executive Officer of the Asmaa James Network which includes the Rise Radio Station.

The Sierra Leone Deputy Ambassador has worked and engaged different local and international organisations, foreign missions, including the EU, as she took part in this year’s European Union Visitor’s Programme.

The Deputy Ambassador was received by the Head of Chancery  Mr Jonathan Las- Lamin, Counsellor, Mr Saifu George and Information Attache, Ms Betty Milton at the Zaventem Brussels Airport.

The Head of Chancery welcomed Mrs. James, expressing delight in receiving her, adding that he was looking forward to working closely with her.

Mrs Asmaa James extended thanks and appreciation to the Ambassador for his support anf preparation for her arrival. She also thanked the members of staff who took their time to receive her during the early hours of the morning, a gesture she noted was a testament of the Mission’s cordial working relationship.

Deputy Ambassador James was appointed by President Bio in July 2024; having gone through an interview, she was approved by the House of Parliament in August this year.

Prior to her departure, Madam James assured His Excellency the President of her commitment to collaborate closely with the Ambassador to represent Sierra Leone effectively and uphold the mandates entrusted to her by the Government and people of Sierra Leone.
